Wellness for Women

Whether you are just becoming sexually active, pregnant, going through menopause or facing health issues associated with aging, our Women’s Wellness program provides education, consultations and age-appropriate screenings delivered with sensitivity and warmth.

During your regular checkup, we'll will review your health history and current health status. We make it comfortable and safe to discuss any physical or emotional issue you may be having so that small problems don’t grow into bigger ones.

Age-appropriate health screenings

We recommend the following tests based on your age. We do most tests in our office but will provide referrals for lab work, your colonoscopy, mammogram and bone density test. If we detect a health issue, we will refer you to the appropriate specialist, including OBGYNs, for further care.

Age 18 – 39

  • Blood pressure check (to test for high blood pressure and avoid stroke, heart attack, kidney and eye problems and heart failure)
  • Blood tests for diabetes (when you have risk factors)
  • Instruction for breast self-examination
  • Clinical breast examination at least every 3 years
  • Pelvic exam and Pap smear (to detect cervical cancer) every 1 to 3 years
  • Tests for STDs, as needed, for sexually active women
  • Colonoscopy when a close family member has developed colon cancer under 50

Age 40 and over

  • All of the above
  • Clinical breast examination every year
  • Annual mammogram (or as recommended by doctor based on risk factors)

Age 50 and over

  • All of the above
  • Colonoscopy every 10 years, or as recommended by doctor based on risk factors

Age 65 and over

  • All of the above
  • Bone density test to evaluate bone strength and presence of osteoporosis

Drug and Alcohol Treatment

Substance use disorders effects approximately 1 in 10 people at some point in their life. It is a medical disorder like any other with evidence-based treatments, however due to shame or stigma they can be difficult to access. We provide empathetic care without judgement to anyone interested.

  • Medication management of addictions and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Office based medication for opioid use disorder including suboxone.
  • Referral to outpatient and inpatient treatment for psychosocial support.
  • In office peer support.
  • Prevention and screening of addiction related conditions.
  • Resources for family and friends.

LGBTQ+ individuals face many of the same health concerns as cis, heterosexual individuals. However, many health issues are unique only to subgroups of the LGBTQ+ community. Prevention, screening, mental health and family planning are some of the areas in which healthcare needs to be different in order to be inclusive of people who are not cisgender and heterosexual. We provide this specific care.
